Potions

Me and had made little progress this week due to the fact that I was quite sick and frankly still am. This week however we discussed possible potions. The potions discussed where that of blindness and haste. If hit with a potion of blindness it limits the players view to a small distance in front of them. If a player uses a potion of haste it allows them to mine faster. We chose to attempt to re create these potions because they are not in the base version of mine craft but they are in a player versus player mod that we both enjoyed, so we decided to attempt to re-create them. This will most likely prove to be fairly difficult as potions are one of the more complex items in mine craft.  We also discussed adding a healing food item, this item would allow the player to receive a speed increase and began to gain some healing over time.

This week I worked mostly on re-designing minecrafts various armor textures. First I had to go throug the minecraft assest file folder searching through about 400 files attempting to find the diamond armour texture template. After I had found the file I began the very slow process of re-coloring ad re shading the new armors we plant to implement. I first had to sample the colors from the emerald then re color the un-shaded portion of the armor. After that I had to re shade the armor. That involved measuring the differences of the original blues and attempting to find greens that are equal shades apart.

The missing Alfredo

My group recently cooked Chicken Alfredo. I could not make it as I was visiting family. From what I have heard about it, it was one of our most successful meals to date. Costing less than ten dollars and serving around six, it was also the most cost efficient meal we have ever made. Our plan for our next is to make a Greek lemon chicken. For this meal I will be supplying the ingredients, I am prepared for it except actually buy the chicken, I do not want to get it to early as chicken does not last very long even when refrigerated.

Spriting and Elevator pitches

This week for my twenty time project I worked on the sprites for some of the items we plan to introduce with our mine craft mod. Spriting is the process of designing how various items will appear in their different states in the game. Such as how I will have to make two separate sprites for every item we plan to implement into the game. One for the item in an inventory or in a menu and one for the item in actual use. Other activities done this week include me and my partner Jake practicing and recording our elevator speeches. Our future plans include to finish the sprites at least for the armor and weapon sets we plan to include, as well as beginning to implement those into the game.

This week me and my partner Jake, decided exactly what we would do in our mod. That being implementing a new crafting material as well as creating new bows and arrows. More importantly this week I began to set up the software I would need to texture, design, and implement our custom items. This software is fairly straight forward. I found this software via a mine craft mod tutorial, other than the software the tutorial was fairly useless. From what work I have attempted and watched others attempt it seems as if the difficult part of this project will be the implementation of our items, it seems as if having your item interact properly with the already existing enemies and items is often a road block for many mod makers.
